Firstly, let me state unequivocally that this is not, nor ever will be, a blog. For some reason that little techno-abbreviation always made me think of some disgusting stew that is served in places where people have splotchy skin and no teeth, mainly for the reason that all they ever eat is blog. And, even worse, wash it down with vlog. So don't look for any of that here, either.
This is... a record. A recording, to be more precise, since it will be ongoing. When all is said and done somewhere down the line, you can call it a wrap. My excellent friend JP whipped up this website and has always told me to use it, use it, use it. I've always been hesitant. It's a strange dichotomy to want to be in the public eye in some way and yet not want to be public. But I've always been strange. I've hidden it well. Somewhat well. "If you don't look too hard" kind of well. But now I'm realizing that if everything in my life is of my own design, why not make it as good as I possibly can? Crazy, huh? I've always been crazy, too.
So this recording... I feel safe in assuming everyone knows I'm talking about a written documentation, not an LP. Which they don't really even make anymore, so it's a moot point for me to be assuming anything in that respect, I suppose. But I just didn't want anybody waiting patiently for the music to start and then be disappointed. (Although there are several songs on this website, featuring my excellent friend JP on guitar!) Even more confusing, I titled it after the classic "Theme to Mahogany". Because for a very long time, I didn't know where I was going to. And I didn't really like the things that life was showing you- I mean, me.
But now I do. And I do. I have made a major life-change and have started on a journey that I believe will take me not only around the world, but to "the next level". You know what I mean, don't you? I will close with a quote by one of my favorite authors from one of my favorite books: Richard Bach's "Illusions":
Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, teachers.
We are all learners, doers, teachers. And I have been blessed in my life to be surrounded by an amazing array of people. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have right now.
So, thank you. |
